How this works
You write in Google Docs. When a story is finished, you hand it to the web team here. They build it in WordPress. That's it.
Writers
My story is finished. What do I do?
- Open your Google Doc and click Share. Start typing your editor's name (it pops up) and set them to Editor.
- Copy the Doc's link from the address bar.
- In the queue, tap Get my story in the queue, paste the link, fill in the rest, check the box, and tap Send to web team.
Where's my story now?
Look at Your stories near the top of the queue. It says whether your story is waiting, who's building it, or that it's published.
I submitted the wrong thing.
While it's still in Ready, tap Withdraw on your card and submit it again. Once someone has claimed it, talk to the designer building it or your section editor.
Do I need photos?
If your story has photos on SmugMug, paste the gallery link in the SmugMug box. Photos don't go in the Doc.
Designers
How do I take a story?
Tap Claim. Your name goes on it so nobody else builds the same story. Then use Open Google Doc and Open SmugMug to build it in WordPress.
I finished building it.
Tap Ready for publication. Your section editor or managing editor checks it in WordPress and publishes it. If they send it Back to designer, it's back on your list for fixes.
I can't finish it.
Tap Unclaim so it goes back to Ready for someone else. Don't sit on a claimed story.
How do I find my stuff?
Use the buttons above the queue: your class period, a section, or Claimed / Unclaimed / Ready for publication.
Editors
Why is a story red and wiggling?
It has sat in Ready for 2 school days without anyone claiming it. The card names the section editor for that section and period. If that's you, get it claimed: find a designer, or ask your managing editor. Weekends don't count.
A story is ready for publication. Now what?
It's in your banner. Open it in WordPress, check it, publish it, then tap Mark published and paste the live link. Need changes? Tap Back to designer.
What does amber mean?
Someone claimed it 3 school days ago and it still isn't published. That lands on the managing editor for that period.
What happens if nobody acts?
After 4 school days unclaimed, a story also shows up for the managing editor. EICs and the adviser see every period, with names, all the time.
Everyone
I'm not on the name list.
Type your first and last name, pick your class period, and tap Add me.
This Chromebook thinks I'm someone else.
Tap Not you? at the top and pick your name.
Who do I ask for help?
Your section editor first, then your managing editor or EIC, then the adviser.
